How old do I have to be to rent a boat? You must be 21 years of age, with a valid driver’s license or state government identification card.

Do I need a boating license to rent a boat? Possibly. Missouri requires that all people born after January 1st, 1984, must possess a boating safety certification approved by the Missouri State Highway Patrol in order to operate a boat. If you are not from Missouri, your state may offer a different certification, which is also acceptable. Visit https://www.boat-ed.com/ to take the test for Missouri. This will take time; therefore, please plan ahead to obtain certificate.

I was born after January 1, 1984. Do I have to take the course to obtain boating safety certification or is there a different option? Yes, you can obtain a temporary permit; however, the permit is only valid for 7 days and offered only once per lifetime. The temporary one-time permit allows you to operate a rental vessel or demo vessel for sale. Visit https://www.boat-ed.com/ to acquire the one-time permit.

Will you deliver my boat to certain place? Yes, the primary range for delivery is between the 0 - 26 mm. We will deliver outside this range for a $100 round trip delivery fee.

What kind of boats do you have? We offer Tritoon Boats that seat up to 12, w/ comfortable seating and 200hp motors.

What is the maximum capacity of your Tritoon boats? The maximum capacity is 12 persons at 2063 lbs.

Do you require payment at time of reservation? Yes, a $200 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your reservation. Full payment is due two days prior to your rental date. You may pay all at once or make the hold deposit and pay in full two days prior to the day of your rental. We accept debit and major credit cards, with the exception of American Express.

Do you require a security deposit? Yes, we ask that you care for and return our boats in the condition you found them, as if they were your own. A damage deposit fee of $500 is required on all boats. This fee is placed as a hold on the credit card on day of rental. When the boat is returned clean, with no damage, no items missing, and a full tank of fuel, the hold will be released, and your credit card will be refunded. If there are damages, excessive cleaning needed, or items missing, the fees will be deducted from your damage deposit. This includes refueling. A convenience fee applies if Breakaway staff has to refuel your boat. Excessive cleaning will also result in a $150 fee, which includes but is not limited to: Dog fur, vomit, or any event which power washing is necessary.

What happens if the boat is damaged? All boats are thoroughly inspected before and after each use, with an agreement signed by the customer and Breakaway staff member. Should damages occur during use, the customer will be 100% responsible for any and all repair costs of the vessel, including replacement for any missing or damaged equipment. The credit card on file will be charged immediately or within 72 hours for all damages and missing equipment.

Do you offer First Responders or Military Discount? Yes, a 12% discount is available to all First Responders (medical, police officers, and firefighters), Veterans, and Active Duty Service members possessing proper identification. Keep in mind that whoever makes the reservation is also the person that must possess the proper credentials. This discount cannot be combined with any other discounted offers.

Do you provide lifejackets and other safety equipment? All watercraft include USCG approved life jackets, fire extinguishers, throw cushions, an orange flag, and accessible ladder. You will need to provide a life jacket for youth under 4 years old. NOTE: Children under age 12 are required to wear a life jacket on boat at all times.

Is pricing subject to change without notice? Yes, prices may vary occasionally based on holidays and local events at Lake of the Ozarks.

What forms of payment do you accept? Debit card and major credit cards only, with the exception of American Express.

Where am I allowed to drive the boat? Have fun on the lake, but please be mindful of your fuel consumption. Traveling from say Shady Gators to the Cave will take a good portion of the day, and will consume a significant amount of fuel. Boundaries are not strictly enforced, but we ask that you ensure you have enough fuel to return.

Are tubes and skis available for renting? Yes, tubes, lily pads, and saddle floaties are available to rent during the duration of your rental. Fishing gear is also available for use on your dock. Pricing varies depending on the length of your rental. Skiing is not allowed by rental insurance company.

Can I drive the boat at night? No, sorry, and this is not our rule. Breakaway Boat Rental's insurance only allows boats to be driven during daylight hours. Multi-day rentals can be kept overnight in the dock, but cannot be operated from dusk to dawn.

Can I smoke on the boat? Smoking of any kind is not allowed on our vessels to prevent damage and burn holes. If damages occur, the customer is responsible for the cost of repairs or replacements.

Can I bring my pet on the boat? As much as we love our furry friends and understand that they too want to enjoy the lake, we are not able to allow pets on our boats to prevent potential damages. As such, please leave the fur babies at home or at your vacation rental.

How long before my rental should I arrive? Breakaway Boat Rentals delivers our boats to your location. All guests/riders should arrive 30 minutes before rental time for boat familiarization and instruction. You are responsible for rental time booked, regardless of arriving late or returning early.

What happens if I am late returning the boat? Be courteous with your return time. If you are running late, please call, otherwise you are subject to overtime charges. After 15-minutes of either no call or no show, you will be charged for an additional hour, and the Missouri State Water Patrol will be notified to begin a search for your group.

Is gas included in the price of the boat? No. The gas tank is full when delivered to you. It is your responsibility to return it on full. Otherwise, we will charge you for the gas necessary to refill, plus a per gallon convenience fee for our team to refuel the boat.

What is your cancellation/refund policy? All cancellations must be made by telephone to a Breakaway Boat Rental Staff Member. Cancellations via text messaging, emails and/or voicemails will not be accepted. To receive a full refund, the reservation must be cancelled at least 7 days prior to rental. If cancellation is made with less than 7 days, customers will receive a full credit rental voucher to be used within one calendar year of cancellation. IF CANCELLATION IS MADE WITHIN 72 HOURS OR LESS OF RESERVATION, no refund is available.

Do you offer reimbursements based on bad weather? For concerns with future weather forecasts, there are several informational resources such as weather apps, weather reports, alerts and more for advanced weather conditions. Breakaway Boat Rentals is not responsible for weather conditions. If possible, however, we will try to accommodate weather interruptions with additional rental time, but only if available.
